hey look at that, we quietly launched a new https://blog.glitch.com/ - a rewrite of the nextjs/prismic cms blog we'd been using into an @eleventy (v3 canary 5!) markdown blog. incredibly fast, and tbh easier for our content folks to edit and update. other fun bits:
- chose to use the new webc template language: https://www.11ty.dev/docs/languages/webc/
- had perfect timing for the release of eleventy-image transform, which automatically optimizes all images, no special <Image> needed https://www.11ty.dev/docs/plugins/image/#eleventy-transform
Want to learn more? My teammate Jenn Schiffer is having a whole eleventy focused live stream today: https://mastodon.social/@glitchdotcom/112122914138734978
i also promised my other teammate named Jenn a blog post about eleventy and how we're using it sometime in the next two weeks. If there is anything in particular you'd like to see covered, let me know!
(yes it is true, i get to work with the two coolest jenns in tech)
Things I'm thinking about writing about:
- The "static site" ecosystem broadly, and how eleventy has stuck to it's original mission (and even stopped work on projects that seemed like they were stepping outside of that)
- How much speed matters when you're on a < 3G connection. This isn't as important for a blog like Glitch's, but for landing pages, government services, etc, those bytes matter!
- The joy of right clicking and viewing source. You can do that on the blog, nothing hidden!
@keith YES YOU DID lol
@jennwrites see even saying it publicly for accountability!
@keith @zachleat @glitchdotcom Will there be a recording available later?
